Program Promises to Deliver Ripened Fruit Directly to Stores

Williamsville, NY& In time for picnics, block parties and the warm weather, Tops Markets has announced Orchard Perfect, an exclusive program bringing premium ripened fruit directly to the store. The new ripening process for tree fruit includes special temperature management to ensure proper ripeness is achieved, and summer fruit is immediately ready for consumption on arrival to stores. "Customers no longer will have to ripen peaches, plums and nectarines in a paper bag," stated Jeff Beaulieu, vice president of produce/floral. "Thanks to our new Orchard Perfect program, we will offer fruit at the peak of ripeness, so it is at its sweetest and juiciest stage for our customers to enjoy."

The Orchard Perfect program uses the best farming practices, packing sheds, shipping and in-store practices to consistently provide consumers with the sweetest, juiciest, tastiest fruit available today. The program also protects fruit during shipping and storage, where it is meticulously handled, in order to provide the highest quality fruit, ripened to perfection.

The program does not include homegrown fruit purchased from New York State farmers throughout the local growing season.
