TOPS TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR FOCUS PROGRAM AT DEPEW HIGH SCHOOL
“Tops Throw for Dough” to Support Substance Use Prevention Program |

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets is joining forces to help raise awareness of a serious epidemic impacting the youth right here in our community. Substance use. FOCUS, which stands for Focus On Community Unity and Support, mission is to prevent and reduce substance use among youth within the community by addressing the factors that increase the risk of substance use and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse through the establishment of community collaboration. Beginning September 6 and for each Depew High School Home Game thereafter during the 2019 season (9/20, 10/4) Tops is teaming up with Depew High School for “Tops Throw for Dough.” This unique fund-raising opportunity allows fans to pre-qualify for a chance to win a Tops $500 gift card by donating $1 and tossing a football from 20 yards into a shopping cart at the three home games. Any contestant who successfully throws the football into the cart (and it remains in the cart), will be entered into a random drawing. Three people will then be randomly chosen from all successful contestants from each home game, for a total of nine eligible individuals to join Tops on October 18, 2019 at the Depew/Lancaster game where a heated rivalry between the two schools is on deck. More winning is on tap because the first 20 contestants who successfully throw the ball into the cart, and it stays in, will receive a coupon for a FREE Tops pizza, perfect to enjoy with your family before heading out to the next game. At half-time, of the October 18 game, people that prequalified were selected at random to throw the ball from 20 yards out into the Tops shopping cart for a chance to win $500 in Tops gift cards. The contest will end when the first person is successful and no other people participate. "I am very excited about the Tops Throw for Dough as it is a creative way to communicate our mission to prevent and reduce substance use among youth within the community," said FOCUS President, Gwendolyn Bork. "That we are able to do it in an interesting way as well with the students and attendees of Depew High School football games, allows us to reach a very focused audience. We sincerely appreciate the collaborative partnership with Depew High School Academy of Finance/Student Senate, F.O.C.U.S and Tops Friendly Markets who came up with the idea and is our sponsor for the contest," added Bork.
