WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets is pleased to once again partner with Erie County Cancer Services Program to provide the community with the opportunity to speak with a representative about the risks of colon cancer and qualifications for an Early Detection Screening Kit. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and Tops encourages the community to visit 12 area Tops locations to obtain their “FIT Kit.” The Fit Kit is a simple take-home test to aid in the detection of colon cancer. In 2020, The American Cancer Society is estimating the number of new colorectal cancer cases in the United States to total over 104,000. “When you hear a staggering statistic like that we as a company want to do all we can to help educate our customers to change those statistics for the better,” said Matt Hamed, director of pharmacy for Tops Friendly Markets. Eligible customers 50 years or older are encouraged to visit participating Tops Pharmacies during the dates identified below to pick up a test kit. Kits are available during the house of 4:00-7:00 pm. The kit may be free to individuals without insurance and covered in full by most major insurance plans.

Additional information on the program can be found on Erie County’s social media platforms Facebook (, Twitter ( and Instagram ( -more-
