Buffalo, NY - Tops Markets and Wendt's Dairy will formalize their working relationship with the signing of a new four-year contract at a ceremony to be held on October 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tops Market located at 355 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

The ceremony will include a presentation by Max Henderson, executive vice president and general manager of Tops Markets, along with Jim Miklinski, general manager of Wendt's Dairy and Dudley Chaffee, president of the Niagara Milk Cooperative. Fifth grade students from the Charter School for Applied Technologies joined in the celebration, as well.

The contract extends the 38-year working relationship between Tops and Wendt's and ensures a secure future for the 180 farm families that own the co-op. The contract impacts an additional 800 workers who support the dairy farm members.

Under the new contract Wendt's will be investing in new equipment that will provide the most up-to-date milk packaging for Tops customers.

The fifth grade students from the Charter School for Applied Technologies were invited to join the celebration so they could learn how to milk a cow, first hand on "Betsy" the "milking cow." They were then taught about the importance and many benefits of drinking milk, and were treated to Wendt's milk and cookies after the milking exercise.

This past summer Wendt's was awarded the Number One Quality Award at the New York State Fair by Cornell University. It is the first time a perfect score of 100 was ever given.
