Williamsville, N.Y. –Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in New York, northern Pennsylvania, and Vermont, is pleased to announce the promotion of Rich Mendolera to director of decision support.

Rich will be leading the consumer and category insights and pricing teams to leverage business data and statistical methods to provide valuable insight for better decision-making and overall performance. Rich started working at Tops in 1995 as a grocery clerk while in high school and was promoted to assistant general merchandise manager and photo one manager. He took a hiatus from the company for a number of years where he worked with ICT Group and Independent Health as a market research manager and at Value Centric as the manager of data services and analytics.

He rejoined Tops in 2017 and was promoted in 2020 to manager, pricing and analytics when the company combined the category analytics and pricing teams in order to provide more efficient and well-rounded analyses to the business to achieve budgeted sales and profit goals. Rich graduated from Canisius College in 2002 with an All College Honors B.S. degrees in management and marketing. He received his Master’s in predictive analytics/data science from Northwestern University in 2016. Rich and his family are residents of East Amherst, NY.
