Williamsville, N.Y. –Tops Friendly Markets is proud to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of its largest store located in Amherst, NY at 3980 Maple Rd. This store, centrally located near University at Buffalo’s North campus, serves a wide population of western New Yorkers and is the 21st location recently updated with a new look and a renewed focus on fresh departments. Tops will cut the ribbon on this multi-million-dollar renovation project at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. This nearly 120,000 sq. ft. store will offer new, enhanced services, an expanded assortment of products, and an enlarged fresh perimeter with new updated décor. This store has been refreshed from top to bottom for a new and contemporary experience: New exterior paint with decorative awnings, energy efficient equipment and LED lighting both inside and out, solar powered efficiencies, new flooring, expanded state-of-the-art self-check outs, renovated restrooms, digital signage, and new interior décor. Store Manager, Jim Giambra, said he and his team are working hard every day to make life easier for their shoppers by focusing on affordable, easy-to-prepare meal options and are excited to welcome neighborhood families as well as UB students to their new True Blue Cafe. “When it comes to freshness, convenience and variety, you'll find everything here at your newly remodeled Amherst store and with all of the inspiring products including a wider selection of domestic and imported cheeses, custom cut meats by real butchers, our famous fish frys, an increased assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries, and even a new slushy machine, guests are sure to enjoy all we have to offer. From the moment you walk in you’ll feel the freshness in the expanded produce area complete with items of the season including fresh cut veggies, fruit, and trays, carefully selected, washed, cut, and prepared for quick and easy ready-to-serve convenience. Tops partners with over 200 local growers including several neighbors right in western New York like Eden Valley and is also a proud supporter of product grown by New York State farmers who adhere to the New York State Grown and Certified program’s requirements, which includes verification of safe food handling practices and participation in environmental sustainability programs. As you continue through the store you’ll notice an expansion of the deli and carry out café areas with delicious sandwiches, signature pizzas, extensive prepared salad varieties, and other grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

Unique to this location and the western New York region is Nissan’s Kosher Deli, a staple in this Tops store for over 30 years. Nissan’s deli is the perfect destination for kosher food for people in the Amherst, Buffalo, or Niagara Falls area. Nissan offers a variety of over 2,000 kosher items with everything you need for a mid-week stay or Shabbat meal. The deli and bakery is supervised by the Buffalo Va’ad Kashrut so you can get kosher baked goods like bread, cakes and knishes for all of your special occasions. Speaking of bakery items, the newly remodeled Tops bakery offers an expanded assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries, specialty cakes, along with gluten free items from Vin-Chet’s, a local Amherst, NY bakery. Throughout the store, shoppers will also see an increase of antibiotic-free meat, plant based options, sustainable seafood selections, chef-prepared sushi, along with a larger selection of certified organic and gluten-free offerings that are fully integrated in aisle. The stores remodel also includes the Pharmacy now with a new waiting area which provides a wide variety of services to the community seven days a week.
