TOPS GIVES BACK TO LOCAL NON-PROFITS AS IT CELEBRATES GRAND RE-OPENING
Williamsville, N.Y. –Today, as Tops kicks off its Grand Re-Opening celebration of its Amherst, NY store located at 3980 Maple Rd. and North Bailey, it would be remiss if it didn’t thank its partners in the community for their support over the years. We are grateful for their support not only of Tops, but the community at large, helping to make Amherst a wonderful place to live, work, and raise our families in.

Amherst Police Department – The Amherst Police Department is a New York State accredited agency comprised of 154 sworn officers supported by 35 full-and part time civilian employees. Their mission is to provide a high level of safety and police services for the 117,000 residents of Amherst.

Brighton Volunteer Fire Company– The Brighton Volunteer Fire Company has been in existence since planning began in October 1929. In 2021 alone the volunteers fire fighters responded to 716 calls, making them one of the busiest departments in the area.

Buffalo Vaad HaKashru – The BVK began in 1981 founded by Rabbi Yirmiyahu Kaganoff with the assistance of Rabbi Gedalyah Felder z”l as a way to serve local industry, consumers, and visitors. BVK is a nationally recognized, and internationally accepted, not-for-profit kosher organization. Receiving certification through BVK gives the consumer confidence in knowing that a company's products satisfy the food quality and safety requirements they are looking for. Since its inception its reputation and responsibilities have grown. They are part of the elite 10% of agencies that are accepted everywhere they are found.

Ellwood Fire District - Ellwood Fire Department is 100% volunteer fire service that provides professional fire and emergency services to the Ellwood Fire District in the Town of Tonawanda.

Jewish Community Center (JCC) - The vision of the JCC, as enunciated decades ago by their then empowered Board of Trustees, is that they engage in “building communities and enriching lives.” Their mission is to build and strengthen the Jewish and Western New York communities by providing recreational, educational, cultural and social programs and services that are consistent with Jewish values. This vision and mission continues to be fulfilled on a daily basis at two buildings and a camp through the exemplary work performed by more than 300 regular staff members, more than 50 camp staff, and dozens of volunteers every month of the year.

North Bailey Fire Company – Established in 1939, North Bailey is a 100% Volunteer Fire Company in the Town of Amherst. The Fire company was founded in 1939 and currently protects 2.2 square miles of mostly commercial properties in the western portion of Amherst.

St Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Leo’s RC Church – The St. Vincent DePaul’s Food Pantry at. St. Leo the Great Church in Amherst services families in need of food in zip codes 14226 and 14228. Clients that are eligible can come to our pantry once a month. The pantry serves between 40 and 50 clients each month.

Tonawanda Police – The principle mission of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department is to preserve the rights of the citizens and reduce fear in the community through the prevention of crime, protection of persons and property.

Town of Amherst Youth and Recreation Department – The Amherst Youth & Recreation Department offers programs for residents of all ages. Amherst is home to over 20 outdoor park/playground locations which encompass both active and passive recreation. Park amenities include playgrounds, shelters, bike paths, tennis courts, sports fields and picnic areas, ice rinks, and golf courses.

UB Student Association Blue Table Fund Food Pantry – Through a partnership with the Student Association, UB offers Blue Table, a virtual food pantry service for UB students who do not have access to food. Students can easily place an order online or pick up orders at the student union. Any enrolled UB student is welcome to utilize the service and all that is needed is a valid UB student ID. Blue Table is available to off-set unanticipated hardship and is not meant to replace a meal plan.

VFW Post #416 (Amherst Township Post) – Across America, the initials VFW are a familiar sight and symbolize a commitment to the nation both at home and abroad. VFW post 416 is an active Post on the move to help veterans. Their mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. Their vision is to ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

Young Israel of Buffalo - Young Israel of Greater Buffalo's purpose is to provide Orthodox Jewish services and a community to its members and guests of a variety of ages and Jewish practice. In 2023, Young Israel will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in the community.
