Cooking demonstration by renowned Chef Peter Berley highlights grand opening

Carlisle, PA - Attention aspiring chefs of all ages! Martin's Cooking School will celebrate its official grand opening on Saturday, May 21st. Located within Martin's Super Food Store on Maple Road in Amherst, the opening day festivities kick off at 10am and include guest chefs, prize give-a-ways, tours of the new kitchen and free classes.

"The new cooking school will feature something for everyone," said June Knoerzer, Martin's Cooking School Manager. "Whether you're a busy mom looking for quick meal ideas, a child learning to cook for the first time, or a bride hoping for a unique venue for her shower, our class schedule meets a variety of needs."

Headlining Saturday's grand opening is a cooking demonstration hosted by renowned cookbook author Chef Peter Berley from 7:00pm-9:00pm. A contributor to both Cooking Light and Fine Cooking magazines, Berley is the author of Fresh Food Fast and the award-winning cookbook The Modern Vegetarian Kitchen. Both books focus on bringing meatless cookery up-to-date through innovative menus and instructive use of ingredients for the chef in your household. Berley also teaches regularly at The Institute for Culinary Education and The Natural Gourmet Cookery School and has appeared on Martha Stewart Living and Cooking Live with Sara Moulton.

Martin's Cooking School has been entirely redesigned with an all-new decor and a greater emphasis on health and wellness through partnerships with local health organizations. Monthly class schedules include everything from four-star restaurant style meals to quick and easy dinners for those on the go. Also on the schedule, are children's hands-on cooking classes to teach simple and fun techniques for cooking favorite foods. Each week, chefs from restaurants across Western New York will host classes featuring meal ideas for any occasion.

A new feature of the Martin's Cooking School is free classes held every Friday and Sunday. Free Fridays feature classes that go beyond the kitchen, including flower arranging, stain removal tips and garnishing. Chef Brian Hart will host Culinary Specialties every Sunday from 1:00pm-3:00pm. No advanced registration for these free classes is required.

Martin's Cooking School is also available to host special events. From children's birthday parties to bridal showers and corporate meetings and teambuilding, the cooking school offers a hands-on experience and atmosphere to help spice up your celebration. Community organizations and small gatherings are also welcome.
