School won grant contest sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets, Dole Packaged Foods, and Captain Planet Foundation

Mexico Elementary School will be installing its state-of-the-art Project Learning Garden on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 9:30 AM. The school will be joined by representatives from Tops Friendly Markets, Dole Packaged Foods, Captain Planet Foundation and other local dignitaries.

The Project Learning Garden program provides a context for multidisciplinary learning, ranging from nutrition and science to social studies, math, and language arts. Students benefit by expanding their palates, taste-testing healthy foods, and learn about food origins; engaging in authentic science field investigations; manipulating the environment to understand math in real-life applications; recreating historical activities; and writing across all these disciplines.
