Batavia, Derby and Dunkirk Tops Markets to Open As Martin's |

(Carlisle, PA) - Giant Food Stores announced today that it will adopt the name of Tops' sister chain Martin's Super Food Stores when it opens its newly remodeled Batavia store and newly constructed Derby and Dunkirk stores this fall as Martin's Super Food Stores. "We are very excited about providing our customers with a new shopping experience in Batavia, Derby and Dunkirk," stated Denny Hopkins, vice president of advertising and public relations. "Since we entered Western New York with the opening of the Amherst Martin's in April, we felt this was a great opportunity to continue introducing our customers to the unique offerings Martin's provides. Because these stores will be very different from most of our other Tops' stores in the area, we wanted to differentiate it in the most obvious way possible, with the new name." The new prototype stores will be based on the current Martin's design, with a look and feel that will include a new decor package, focus on customer service and a layout that provides an easy shopping experience. Both the Derby and Dunkirk stores will be the 65,000 sq. ft. prototype and the Batavia store will remain at 80,000 sq. ft. Giant Food Stores, located in Carlisle, Pa, operates both the Martin's and Tops chains. There are currently nineteen Martin's stores located in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and two Martin's Super Food Stores in New York. These stores will be Martin's newest entry into New York State, following the Martin's Super Food Stores opened in Amherst this past April and Perinton, New York last fall.
