Williamsville, N.Y. – As Tops continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary and store renovations of its City of Rochester store located at 285 Upper Falls Blvd., it would be remiss if it didn’t thank its partners in the community for their support over the years. We are grateful for their support not only of Tops, but the community at large, helping to make the City of Rochester a wonderful place to live, work, and raise our families.

As a long-time member of the community, it is our commitment to keep our neighborhoods strong. The Upper Falls Blvd. Tops store made $1,000 donations to each of the following local groups as a thank you for their support of the community:

RPD - Do The Right Thing: The Do The Right Thing Awards program has been part of the Rochester Police Department (RPD) since 1995. The goal of Do The Right Thing is to foster positive relationships between local law enforcement and youth in the community. The Do The Right Thing Awards program recognizes youth for their bravery, courage and valor, such as volunteering, aiding law enforcement or other first responders, acts of heroism, leadership and positive role model behavior. The award distinguishes school-aged children who strive to make good choices, do well in school, give back to their community, or demonstrate a “turn-around” or improvement in their behavior, and to publicly highlight these students and their stories in the media to show that good kids are newsworthy.

Baden Street Settlement: Baden Street Settlement improves the quality of life for neighborhood children, youth, adults and seniors by providing programs, resources and basic needs which address the effects of poverty while building self-sufficiency and community. The organization takes a holistic approach to meeting individual needs in collaboration with other local agencies.

Ibero Early Childhood Services: Ibero is a dual language multi service agency that uplifts, empowers, and advocates for Latinos and the underserved to achieve equity and become fully valued community members. Each child in the program receives hands-on learning in the areas of developing and improving their motor skills, level of literacy, path to successful socialization, health and social / emotional wellness. All children attending achieve high attendance rate of 85% or higher and all meet next grade level success. Each program has an assigned Family Services Assistance to help each family work on goals, address barriers and assist families in a comprehensive way. We have a nutritionist, behavior health services, a health advocate and a special education coordinator on-site to meet all our children and families’ needs. Currently all our programs are free for qualifying families.

YWCA Rochester and Monroe County: The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County is a powerful resource in our community. They help women and girls who are faced with personal crises including homelessness and teen pregnancy. They also work hard to dispel stereotypes and promote racial justice. Their goal is to empower women to regain control of their lives and get on the path to a healthy, successful future.

House of Mercy: Founded by Sister Grace Miller almost 40 years ago, the mission of House of Mercy is to live the spiritual and corporal works of mercy by serving the poor with unconditional love.

Rochester Fire Department: The Rochester Fire Department provides professional services for life preservation, incident stabilization and property conservation. We protect life and property through fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous material management, technical rescue, fire prevention, disaster preparedness, public education and community risk reduction. The effective delivery of these services is achieved through a commitment to our employees and the community.
