TOPS MARKETS AND TASTE OF BUFFALO PARTNER TO BENEFIT FOOD BANK OF WNY
Over $16,000 donated from festival proceeds

BUFFALO, NY - Tops Markets and the Taste of Buffalo board of directors have jointly donated the proceeds from the supermarket chains sales at the annual food festival to the Food Bank of Western New York. Tops Markets is giving 100 percent of its net ticket earnings from its tent at this year's Taste, as well as donations from their giant prize wheel for a $13,000 donation to the local food bank. In addition, the Taste of Buffalo is making its own contribution of $3,000. Combined, both donations total more than $16,000 to the Food Bank of Western New York.

"The Food Bank provides a necessary and important service to so many needy people in the Buffalo-Niagara region," commented James Morrell, 2005 Taste of Buffalo chairman. "The board of directors felt it was important to do something that adds to Tops' already generous donation."

"We believe in fulfilling Tops' mission of helping feed those less fortunate," said Max T. Henderson, executive vice president and general manager, Tops Markets. "We only hope our contribution can assist the Food Bank in their mission of lending a hand to people across Western New York."

First held in 1984, the Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is the nation's second largest food festival, attracting approximately 500,000 people to this year's festival held July 9 and 10 along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square.
