Culmination of Over $7 Million in Five Erie, Pennsylvania Area Stores

Williamsville, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets today announced that two additional stores will be celebrating significant investments in their Union City and Meadville, PA locations. This marks the culmination of an over $7 million-dollar capital investment in five of its Pennsylvania stores. Earlier this year, Tops cut the ribbon on two newly renovated stores in Erie and one in Waterford, PA.

These large-scale renovation efforts will refresh the store experience and create expanded space for additional fresh foods and food service options across the store locations.

The two locations will officially cut the ribbon and grand reopen their doors on Tuesday, September 26 at the times and locations noted below:

19-21 East High Street, Union City, PA – 9am 144 Center Street, Meadville, PA – 12 noon

Tops invites the community to visit during the Grand Re-Opening celebration and even have the chance to win some great prizes like a $1,000 in Tops gift cards or a fun filled ski package courtesy of Mount Pleasant Edinboro. During the ribbon cutting celebrations Tops will present community donations totaling $14,000 back to a variety of local non-profits, positively impacting local first responders, area schools, food pantry’s, and Veteran organizations.

“These significant investments will elevate the customer experience and provide expanded access to fresh foods at our local stores. We’re excited to officially re-open these store locations signifying our continued commitment to the community,” said Ron Ferri, President, Tops Friendly Markets.

These latest enhancements will help make life a little easier for shoppers by focusing on affordable, easy-to-prepare meal options and a wider selection of products,” stated Chip Christiansen, Tops District Manager.

Top to bottom renovations can be seen at both locations with new exterior paint, an enhanced facade and refreshed landscaping. New décor, energy-efficient lighting, new flooring will greet shoppers inside. Expanded fresh-food areas will provide more produce options, including local and organic selections. The bakeries will offer a larger selection of custom cakes and pastries and daily fresh fried donuts, while the deli and carry-out café areas will provide more on-the-go items and affordable restaurant-style options.

A wide variety of both local as well as national wines and beers can be found at the Meadville location while an expanded selection of waters, teas, mixers, and sparkling waters, including many imported varieties abound at both locations in the healthy hydration area of the store.

Tops is excited to expand its Flashfood® program at its Meadville, PA location. Flashfood is an app-based marketplace that strives to eliminate food waste by connecting consumers with discounted food nearing its best-by date. Shoppers can buy items from Tops through the Flashfood app and pick them up in-store at great prices while collectively reducing food waste.
