Thousands of prices lowered throughout the store

Carlisle, PA - Martin's Super Food Store will unveil its latest prototype for the fourth time in Western New York as it opens the doors of a brand new 65,000 square foot store at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005. The new store, located at 6914 Erie Road in Derby, will hold its official grand opening celebration later this year, when the old Tops store is demolished and the parking lot is completed.

"Martin's is a step towards the next generation of supermarkets, featuring an expanded selection of items in virtually every department, " Michael Nugent, store manager commented. "There is also an increased emphasis on technology, which adds to the convenience of the customers' shopping experience." Focus on Technology and Convenience Martin's features new state-of-the-art technology that provides added convenience to customers. EasyScan allows customers to utilize one of the six self-scanning units to expedite their checkout process and EasyWeigh allows customers to weigh their produce, bulk food and other items as they make their selection, making checkout quick and easy. Martin's is also making it convenient for customers to find meal ideas with Recipe Solutions. This interactive computer kiosk provides customers with recipes and a listing of ingredients for new and innovative ideas for dinner, a snack or a special celebration all without leaving the store.

Focus on Natural and Organic The store will offer an expanded variety of products in the natural and organic categories through a dedicated section, Nature's Promise Marketplace, which will include frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections. The department will also include a "HealthNotes" touch screen information kiosk, a resource to obtain quick, reliable information on vitamins, health conditions, herbal supplements, sports nutrition, diet, nutrition, recipes and homeopathy.

Store Features and Amenities Customers will find that familiar features of the previous Derby store have been upgraded and enhanced in the new location along with the addition of new features that will provide a more efficient, consumer-friendly shopping experience.

§ Store Hours - the Derby Martin's will be open 24 hours, 7 days a week, § Deli Express - customers can place their order electronically at the deli, continue their shopping and then pick up their order before heading to the checkout, § Pharmacy - same pharmacy team will carry over from the old Tops location with all customer prescriptions and files automatically transferred to the new store, § Citizen's Bank - in-store branch for added customer convenience, § Fuel station - an added convenience for customers to fill up their car and do their grocery shopping in one, easy location.

New Customer Service Area The enhanced Customer Service Area is designed to meet customer needs and offers many services and conveniences, including: ª Check Cashing ª Postage Stamps ª Western Union Transactions ª ATM ª Film Developing ª Lottery Tickets ª Money Orders ª Bill Payments ª

"Martin's also features an entirely new decor package that will give customers the feeling of shopping in a more convenient setting, featuring a 'store within the store' concept," Nugent continued. "Key departments such as the bakery, deli, meat and seafood are set off with their own look and feel, giving unique identities to the various sections of the store."

To celebrate the grand opening of the fourth Martin's prototype in Western New York, Martin's provided $1,000 donations to each of the following Derby organizations in a special presentation: § Highland Hose Fire Department § Angola Fire Department § Evans Police Benevolent Association § Town of Evans Dare Program § Evans Center Fire Dept. § Lakeview Fire Dept. § Community Concern § Operation Good Neighbor § Angola Public Library § CAO Headstart

The number of store associate positions will significantly increase as compared to the old Derby store, creating approximately 130 new jobs in the area.

The Derby Martin's joins the growing list of Martin's Food Stores in New York State, most recently Dunkirk, which opened in August 2005, Amherst in April 2005, and Perinton in September 2004. By the end of this year, the Batavia Tops location will also re-open as a Martin's Super Food Store.
