Williamsville, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in New York, northern Pennsylvania, and Vermont, is pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Petrie to human resources specialist for the Buffalo East and North Districts. In his new role, he will work closely with store management and the union to create a positive employment environment for our associates. Tom will work to ensure legal compliance with federal and state human resource requirements and provide guidance to store management as it pertains to human resource policies and procedures. Tom will also continue to play an integral role in the training and development of our associates, which is a true passion of his. Tom joined Tops Markets in 2000 as a store manager in the Wilson Farms Division. He transferred to the Tops Division in 2003 as an operations manager and worked in the Buffalo East District. During his tenure as an operations manager, he played an integral role in training new front-end programs, the Food Item Management roll out, and was on the HR acquisition team when new stores or companies were acquired. Tom resides in Marilla, NY with his wife of 45 years, Phyllis. He is a proud grandparent of four grandchildren, Kiera, Aiden, Ethan and Megan. He is an active volunteer for Junior Achievement of WNY and is currently the President of Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight.
