Honeysuckle White More To Share program gives 200 additional turkeys to Food Bank of WNY

Buffalo, NY - This morning Tops Markets and Martin's Super Food Stores made a donation to help families across Western New York enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Tops and Martin's presented 200 turkeys each to the Food Bank of WNY and to the Salvation Army. The supermarket chains also presented 500 Tops/Martin's $10 gift cards each to the Food Bank and the Salvation Army towards the purchase of an additional 1,000 turkeys or other food items for families in need this Thanksgiving holiday.

"We believe it is so very important for Tops and Martin's to fulfill its missions of feeding those less fortunate, particularly during the holiday season," stated Max Henderson, executive vice president and general manager, Tops Markets. "We hope that our donation can help to make this years Thanksgiving meal better for those in need across Western New York."

In the donation event held at Tops Markets located at 355 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca, Honeysuckle White, through its More To Share" program, donated 200 additional turkeys to the Food Bank of WNY. In all a combined total of 600 turkeys and a $10,000 donation towards to the purchase of an additional 1,000 turkeys or other food items was presented this morning to the Food Bank of WNY and the Salvation Army to help families across Western New York.

"We sincerely appreciate the commitment and generosity of the Honeysuckle White More to Share program and that of Tops Markets and Martin's Super Food Stores," said Clem Eckert, President & CEO, Food Bank of WNY. "The demand for food from our member agencies continues to grow, and this donation helps us fight hunger one day at a time."

This is the tenth consecutive year Honeysuckle White will donate turkeys to the Food Bank of WNY. Since Honeysuckle White launched its "More To Share"" program ten years ago, the company has donated over one million pounds of turkey to charities across the country. The Food Bank of WNY is among 29 charities across the country to which Honeysuckle White will make a turkey donation this year.

Tops Markets will be donating over $40,500 worth of turkeys and monetary funds to food banks and Salvation Army units throughout New York State and Northeast Ohio so that these various organizations can help their local communities this Thanksgiving.

"It is marvelous that Tops Markets continues to help to meet the need of The Salvation Army," commented Major George Polarek, Salvation Army. "We truly appreciate this donation of turkeys that will be used to feed so many needy families throughout the holiday season."
