TOPS MARKETS SELLS 3 MID-STATE NEW YORK STORES
Buffalo, NY - Tops Markets announced today the sale of three more of its stores located in New Hartford, Utica and Clinton to Hannaford Supermarkets. Hannaford will assume operation of these stores beginning early 2006. In the interim the stores will remain open and operate as usual. The three stores that have been sold include:

-50 Kellogg Road, New Hartford, NY

-1122 Mohawk Street, Utica, NY

-55 Meadow Street, Clinton, NY

Hannaford's future plans for the store locations include closing for a period of time for remodels and then reopening as Hannaford Supermarkets.

Tops Markets announced last July its intent to seek buyers for its 31 stores located in Eastern New York and the Adirondack region as part of the chain's long-term strategy to redefine its core markets. Since that announcement 21 stores have been sold. C&S Wholesalers recently signed a deal for 12 stores. Price Chopper has purchased six stores and the landlords of three stores have reacquired the properties.

The remaining six stores in Eastern New York are Norwich, Rome, Keeseville, Port Henry, Willsboro and Whitehall. Tops is currently undergoing communications and negotiations in seeking the best possible outcome to protect the value of its business and for its associates.
