MARTIN'S SUPER FOOD STORE INTRODUCES NEW AMENITIES IN PERINTON
Introduction of state-of-the-art technology for added customer convenience

Perinton, NY

Martin's Super Food Store customers have probably noticed some changes at the Perinton location over the past several weeks. Martin's has just completed the installation of several new state-of-the-art technology amenities to provide customers with greater speed and efficiency while shopping, including EasyShop, EasyWeigh scales and Shopping Solutions kiosks.

"Martin's is the only supermarket in the region to offer customers the latest in supermarket technology," said Cheryl Emerling, store manager. "We've found that our time-sensitive customers love the easy-to-use features and the option of greater convenience for a total value shopping experience."

In addition to friendly cashiers, EasyShop allows customers to use a hand-held device to scan and bag items in their cart as they shop. It also provides customers with a running total of their purchases prior to checkout. Once a customer is done shopping, all they do at the checkout is pay and go, providing a faster checkout process.

The new technology also enhances the shopping experience throughout the store. EasyWeigh allows customers to weigh produce, bulk foods and other random weight items. After placing the item in a bag and placing it on the scale, the customer enters a PLU (price look-up) number on the touch-screen, which then prints the barcode label that is used for checkout.

As a one-stop informational center, customers can also find what they are looking for at one of the eight Shopping Solutions kiosks found throughout the store. By using the interactive touch-screen, customers can place a deli order, refill a prescription, check out personalized BONUSCARD savings offers, find the location of a specific item within the store and even meet their store management team. Martin's also makes it easy to find meal ideas. Customers can scan the barcode on any meat, seafood or produce item at a Shopping Solutions kiosk and be provided with recipes, suggestions for side dishes and a listing of ingredients for new and innovative ideas for dinner, a snack or a special celebration.

Customers will also find a label change on Martin's shelves. Since it opened in September 2004, Martin's has carried the Giant Food Stores corporate brand. The store is currently undergoing a transition to the TOPS corporate brand and should be completed by the end of April. The TOPS corporate brand, which is the same quality value to customers as the Giant brand, is part of the family of brands available at Martin's Super Food Stores, TOPS Markets and Giant Food Stores and includes Care One, Mi Casa, Nature's Promise, Pure Power and the Giant/TOPS corporate brands.
