Williamsville, NY - Due to an overwhelming show of support by TOPS Markets and Martin's Super Food Store customers throughout New York State and Pennsylvania, the TOPS and Martin's annual "Hope for the Holidays" Program will donate a total of $112,000 to the food banks throughout the companies' operating areas. This donation distributed to food banks in the markets where the money was raised, will be used to provide food, warm clothing and toys for low-income families who would otherwise go without at this time of year.

"In the sixth year of this program, the generosity and support of our customers never ceases to amaze us, especially during the holiday season," said Max Henderson, Jr., executive vice president and general manager, TOPS Markets. "We thank each and every one of our customers who contributed this year to help so many families where we also live and work."

The breakdown of donations by food bank is as follows:

Food Bank of Western New York - $63,357

Foodlink of Rochester - $36,306

Foodbank of Central New York - $1,762

Foodbank of Southern Tier - $6,142

Central PA Foodbank - $2,134

Foodbank of Northwestern PA - $2,945

Sponsored by TOPS Markets and Martin's Super Food Stores, "Hope for the Holidays" is an annual three-week program that ran this year from November 19th to December 9th to help brighten the holidays for needy families. The program is shopper friendly, as TOPS and Martin's customers are encouraged to help local families by using tear-off coupons located at cash registers. Customers have the option of choosing a voucher for the Food Bank and/or Salvation Army in their respective community where all monies are ultimately donated.
