Hosting Uncrowned Queens Appearances, Book Signings

Williamsville, NY… For the third consecutive year, Tops Friendly Markets has partnered with the Uncrowned Queens project to celebrate and promote Black History Month. The Uncrowned Queens project celebrates the accomplishments of African American women in the Western New York community.

Each Saturday throughout February, an area Tops will host Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Dr. Barbara Seals-Nevergold, historians for the Uncrowned Queens project. They will be on hand to promote and sign copies of their book, Uncrowned Queens: African American Women Community Builders of Western New York.

Appearance dates are:  Saturday, February 8th Noon – 2:00 p.m. Tops Friendly Market 700 Thruway Plaza Cheektowaga, NY  Saturday, February 15th Noon – 2:00 p.m. Tops International 3890 Maple Road Amherst, NY  Saturday, February 22nd Noon – 2:00 p.m. Tops Friendly Market 285 Upper Falls Blvd. Rochester, NY

Additionally, Tops has teamed up with several chapters of The Links across New York and Erie, PA, and with the United Negro College Fund in northeast Ohio, to provide $7,500 in scholarships for African-American students.
