Williamsville, NY…Tops Friendly Markets announced today that a major remodel is underway for its Chestertown, NY location. Work has begun on the store, located at 6308 Route 9, and is targeted for completion by early spring. The remodel, a half-million dollar investment, represents a new space-maximizing concept that Tops is developing for its Adirondack stores.

The remodel will focus on added customer convenience by adding a new customer service desk, new produce cases and new ice cream freezers. The new produce cases will enable the store to more efficiently use available space to offer a wider variety of fresh produce. Likewise, the existing coffin-style freezer cases will be replaced by more energy and space efficient vertical cases with doors, allowing Tops to expand its frozen food offerings. In addition to the new cases, the store will also be getting fresh paint, a new floor and ceiling, as well as updated store décor. The store will also replace its existing fleet of shopping carts with new Tops carts.

Throughout the remodeling process, the store will maintain its normal hours of operation – 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

This is the first remodel of the Chestertown location in more than 15 years. Tops acquired the store in 2001 when it purchased 22 former Grand Union stores
