TOPS FRIENDLY MARKETS TO HOST ‘NUTRITIONAL NEEDS DURING PREGNANCY’ COOKING CLASSES
Classes sponsored by March of Dimes

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets, the leading full-service grocery retailer in Western New York, Central New York, including Rochester, and Northwestern Pennsylvania will host “Nutritional Needs During Pregnancy” classes, sponsored by the March of Dimes on Monday, November 2 at their Amherst location (3980 Maple Road) and Wednesday, November 4 at the West Seneca location (355 Orchard Park Road).

Classes will be run by a registered dietician, and will teach parents-to-be how to nourish a growing baby with all the nutrients it needs, as well as provide information and resources on the best way to make that happen.

Discussion topics will include: •Nutrition needs during pregnancy and how to get the recommended: calcium, folic acid, protein, calories, and other vitamins, minerals, nutrients •Filling up on the right foods •What to eat when morning sickness strikes •Suggested weight gain •Gestational Diabetes (Brief discussion) •Guidance on having a healthy baby, while keeping mom healthy too

Part of the class will be a hands-on component where participants will prepare and taste the following menu items: Orange Juice Smoothie, White Bean and Escarole Soup, Easy Salmon Cakes, Lemon Roasted Vegetables, and Grilled Peanut Butter Banana Split Sandwich

Both classes are from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and are $20 per person. Classes are $5 with Independent Health or Univera health insurance.
