WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT P&C STORE TO CLOSE APRIL 18 AS TOPS MARKETS REVIEWS PENN TRAFFIC LOCATIONS | |
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. –Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in Western New York, Central New York, including Rochester, and Northwestern Pennsylvania, announced today that as part of its review process of the acquisition of a majority of Penn Traffics assets, the P&C store located at 209 Maple Street in White River Junction, VT will close on April 18. Among several criteria used in the evaluation process have been economic viability, and the store’s location within the geographic footprint for Tops. Tops Markets announced on Jan. 29 that it had completed the bankruptcy court-approved acquisition of a majority of Penn Traffic’s assets, including 79 supermarkets over a four-state area. Tops continues to evaluate all stores in seeking the best possible outcome for the remaining locations. An FTC review of all locations is also pending. Tops Markets, LLC, is headquartered in Williamsville, NY and operates 76 full-service supermarkets – 71 company-owned and five franchise locations.
