TYRONE, PA BILO STORE TO CLOSE APRIL 24 AS RESULT OF TOPS MARKETS’ REVIEW OF PENN TRAFFIC LOCATIONS
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in Western New York, Central New York, including Rochester, and Northwestern Pennsylvania, announced today that as part of its review process of the acquisition of a majority of Penn Traffic assets, the BiLo store in Tyrone, PA will close effective April 24.

Among several criteria used in the evaluation process have been economic viability, current store condition, and store location within the geographic footprint for Tops. Management and UFCW Local 23 will be working together over the next few days to address issues including re-employment.

Tops Markets announced on Jan. 29 that it had completed the U.S. court-approved acquisition of a majority of Penn Traffic’s assets, including 79 supermarkets over a four-state area, after Penn Traffic had filed for bankruptcy in late 2009.
