Bob Parent Recognized for 'Commitment to Community'

Williamsville, NY… Tops Friendly Markets recently announced that Bob Parent, store manager of the company's Schroon Lake location, had been named one of three recipients of its “Commitment to Community” award.

The award is given annually to one manager in each of Tops’ three operating regions. It serves as recognition for those store managers who are consistently going above and beyond expectations to build strong relationships within the communities that Tops serves.

Parent is a member of the Schroon Lake Lions Club, and credits the organization for helping him to develop his strong sense of community. In conjunction with the club, the Schroon Lake Tops puts together holiday food baskets to help feed needy families in both the Schroon Lake and North Hudson areas.

Parent has worked to instill that same sense of community in his associates. Over the past year, they have provided numerous donations to area schools and churches, as well as the local library, senior citizen center and fish & game club. The store is also a key contributor to Tops’ sponsorship of the Adirondack Marathon.

“Bob works so hard to please his customers, and then he works even harder to please the community,” said Matt Bennett, Tops’ district manager and Parent’s immediate supervisor. “He deserves to be honored; he deserves to be thanked.”

Parent, who resides in Chestertown, NY with his family, has been the store manager in Schroon Lake since it first opened six years ago. He has been a part of the Tops team since the former Grand Union location was acquired in 2001, and is a 25-year veteran of the grocery industry.

Tops Markets, LLC is one of six retail operating companies under Ahold USA, one of the leading supermarket operations in the U.S. Tops currently operates 158 Tops Friendly Markets, 205 convenience stores under the Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Tops Xpress banners, and 9 B-Kwik Food Markets in New York, Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio.
