| WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. –Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, today celebrated the official grand-opening of Tops’ first off-site fueling station and Tops Fresh Xpress store located in West Seneca, N.Y. The addition of the new fueling station and Tops Fresh Xpress store is part of Tops’ multi-million dollar capital improvement plan, and is a prototype for future off-site fueling stations. The location, formerly occupied by a Valero fueling station, boasts six self-serve fuel dispensers offering three grades of high-quality gasoline: regular, mid-grade and premium, and a 1,600 square-foot convenience-type store. “Ideally, we’d like to sell fuel on-site at all existing Tops stores,” said Frank Curci, Tops president and CEO. “When that isn’t possible, we’ll carefully consider other opportunities to best serve our customers.” The Tops Fresh Xpress store proudly offers a wide variety of made-to-order, fresh foods to-go including specialty pizzas, salads, Tops Fresh Xpress signature subs and flatbread wraps as well as a full array of convenience items, including frozen foods, beverages, snacks, single produce items and the popular Tim Hortons coffee kiosk. The décor has been completely renovated, boasting soft colors and lighting as well as a comfortable seating area for customers to relax if they choose to eat-in. “The Tops Fresh Xpress store concept is different for us in terms of the types of offerings in a smaller-sized format.” Curci added. “It’s an extension of our full-service grocery stores, with an even greater emphasis on convenience and value. Shoppers can fill their tank, grab a hot, prepared meal or cup of coffee all at an incredible value.” Curci also commented on the popular Tops’ Gas BonusPoints rewards program. “At participating locations, customers who shop at Tops earn Gas BonusPoints,” he said. “The addition of this new fuel station and Tops Fresh Xpress store gives customers yet another convenient way to save by shopping at Tops.” Shoppers who use their BonusCard when shopping at their neighborhood Tops Friendly Markets earn points on qualifying grocery and pharmacy purchases. Customers earn one Gas BonusPoint for every dollar they spend and can track their points at the bottom of their receipt. Customers can redeem these points by just scanning their BonusCard at a Tops gas pump for gas price discounts. The fuel site is Tops 37th station including 25 in the Western New York area, five in the greater Rochester area, five in midstate New York, and two in Pennsylvania. The grand opening celebration included participation from community members and leaders, local and county dignitaries, Tops Markets executives, and store associates.
