TOPS FRIENDLY MARKETS HONORS GRAND ISLAND STORE MANAGER
Fran Davis Recognized for 'Commitment to Community' |

Williamsville, NY… Tops Friendly Markets recently announced that Fran Davis, store manager of the company's Grand Island location, had been named one of three recipients of its “Commitment to Community” award. The award is given annually to one manager in each of Tops’ three operating regions. It serves as recognition for those store managers who are consistently going above and beyond expectations to build strong relationships within the communities that Tops serves. Davis, a Grand Island resident, has been very involved in the community since becoming a store manager there in early 2002. Among the community events that her store has sponsored and supported are the Dick Bessel 4th of July Run, the Lion’s Club annual spaghetti dinner, the Rotary golf tournament and hot dog sale, and the Keith’s Classic/Carly’s Club golf tournament to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Her store has also played host to several children’s events including a Halloween parade, and holiday coloring contests. They have worked in conjunction with the Town of Grand Island Recreation Department on events that include a visit from Santa and an Easter Egg hunt. Likewise, Davis encourages her management team to play a positive role in their community, and members of her staff are active in local schools and senior centers, and organizations like Junior Achievement. “Upon coming to Grand Island, one of the first goals that Fran set was to play a bigger part in her community” said Mike Patti, Tops’ district manager and Davis’ immediate supervisor. “To achieve that goal in her first year, and to be honored by the company for doing so certainly says something about her commitment to please not only her customers, but all of her neighbors as well.” Davis is also an active member of the Grand Island Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, and has been elected director of both organizations. Last fall, she nominated a Tops associate, who was later endorsed and sponsored by the Rotary, to participate in an international cultural and vocational exchange program in India. Through Davis’ involvement with the Chamber, Tops has been a sponsor of the “Citizen of the Year” awards for the past two years. Tops Markets, LLC is one of six retail operating companies under Ahold USA, one of the leading supermarket operations in the U.S. Tops currently operates 158 Tops Friendly Markets, 205 convenience stores under the Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Tops Xpress banners, and 9 B-Kwik Food Markets in New York, Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio.
