$6M renovation adds more than 17,700 square feet to store including the addition of fueling facility

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, today held a grand re-opening celebration to mark the completion of a $6 million renovation of its McKinley Parkway location, including the addition of a fueling facility and Tops Xpress location.

The renovation included the addition of 17,753 square-feet making the store 62,288 square-feet in size. Located at 4250 McKinley Parkway, renovations provide customers with exterior and interior improvements, and an expanded product selection. Grand opening ceremonies featured the participation of Tops Markets executives, local community leaders, and store associates. “In order to continue to provide the best possible service to the Hamburg community, this store was identified as a location in need of a major remodel,” said Frank Curci, Top president and CEO. “We are proud that the store’s new and improved features provide an increased selection of products, easier navigation, as well as the addition of a new fueling facility for added convenience and increased savings.”

Specific changes to the store include a new storefront with new exterior signs, improvements to the store’s parking lot, a new entrance lobby, new bottle redemption area, new customer restrooms, new shopping carts, and overall enhanced décor. Customers will also enjoy major upgrades and expansions to the floral, produce, bakery, deli, meat/ seafood, and dairy/frozen departments, as well as an enhanced Tops’ Carry Out Café, where customers can find delicious prepared foods are now available at the store. Included in the renovation was the addition of six self check-out stations and a Tim Horton’s self-serve kiosk offering fresh brewed coffee, select cold beverages and baked goods.

Customers who shop at the McKinley Parkway location will be able to redeem their fuel rewards right at the pump through Tops Markets’ GasPoints program. Shoppers who use their BonusCard at nearby Tops locations will earn points on qualifying purchases. Customers earn one GasPoint for every dollar they spend and can track the points at the bottom of their receipt. Every $100 a customer spends equals $.10 off per gallon of Tops gasoline. To redeem the points, customers just scan their BonusCard at a Tops gas pump. The savings can equal 10, 20, 30 cents or more off per gallon. The fueling facility will consist of four, double-sided, self-service fuel dispensers, offering three grades of high-quality gasoline: regular, mid-grade and premium. Customers will have their choice of paying at the pump using a major credit card, or at the walk-in Tops Xpress convenience location. Within the Tops Xpress, customers will also be able to purchase made to order foods, including breakfast sandwiches, pizzas, salads, subs, wraps, tacos, burgers, snack food items, beverages, NY state lottery instant and on-line games, automotive maintenance items, such as windshield wiper fluid and motor oil, local and national newspapers, and other seasonal items.
