Williamsville, NY – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, in partnership with Syracuse University Athletics, today presented the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation with a donation of $2,125.00.

As part of the “Jams for Jim and Juli” charitable campaign, for every “slam dunk” scored at the Carrier Dome by the Syracuse University men’s basketball team during the 2011-2012 regular season, Tops Markets donated 25 dollars to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.

“Improving the lives of children is a core mission for Tops,” said Kathleen Allen, Tops’ manager of community relations. “The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation does tremendous work in the central New York community to enrich the lives of children, and we are proud to be able to assist this wonderful organization and their continuous efforts.”

Today’s donation was presented to Jim Boeheim, head coach for the Syracuse men’s basketball team and founder of the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation by Tops representatives at the Nottingham Road Tops Markets. The Nottingham Road store features a Syracuse University Athletics theme, making it the only grocery store in the northeast with university-themed décor throughout the store. The store includes a Syracuse Athletics-themed ‘Cuse Café’, life sized wall photos of past and present Syracuse University athletes, orange shopping carts, and a basketball court with Syracuse logos and court markings in the frozen foods aisles.

In September of 2010, Tops Markets announced it partnership with Syracuse University Athletics as the major sponsor of Syracuse University men’s and women’s basketball, football and men’s and women’s lacrosse for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.
