WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Vermont, today opened a new Tops Friendly Markets on the North Side of the City of Syracuse. The new location, now called North Side Tops Markets replaces a store closed by another chain last year.

Tops worked in conjunction with The City of Syracuse, Morgan Management and Syracuse Industrial Development Agency to return a full-service grocery store to Syracuse’s North Side. The addition of this Syracuse location is part of Tops’ overall capital improvement plan and is the company’s second store in the city of Syracuse. “This opening is the culmination of months of hard work from grassroots neighborhood activists, a top-notch economic development team, and dedicated leadership on all sides,” said Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner. “I am excited our Northside community will no longer have to leave their neighborhood to obtain fresh food. I thank the good people of Tops Friendly Markets and Morgan Management for their vision and leadership in creating what we are opening today.”
