TOPS MARKETS AND DUETTS’ NEW, UNIQUE PORK AND POTATO SAUSAGE SIZZLE UP SUMMER GRILLING
Tops Friendly Markets and F. Wardynski & Sons are pleased to announce that they’ve partnered for the launch of the new Duetts Pork & Potato Sausage ™ line of products. Developed over the last two years, Wardynski uses a patented cooking process and formulation to blend fine cuts of pork, real russet potatoes, and gourmet seasonings. The result is sausage that has the richness and taste of traditional pork sausage, but with significantly lower fat and sodium. According to Wardynski, “Real potatoes add body, a rich buttery texture and flavor typically found in higher fat sausage products.”

Available exclusively at Tops Friendly Markets starting Memorial Day Weekend, the six flavors - Tomato Basil, Parmesan Garlic, Savory Sage, Fire Roasted Jalapeno & Cheddar, Spicy Cajun, and Buffalo Wing, have less fat than USDA standards for pre-cooked sausage

We put those great tastes together with all the flavor of traditional pork sausage and cut out fat. That’s big!”

According to food market research organization, The NDP Group’s National Eating Trends study the pork sausage market in the United States is on target to reach $1.8 billion in sales for 2013.

“Duetts is taking aim at this market through innovation that gives consumers a better-for-you option without sacrificing taste,” explains Joe Lopez, Vice President of Sales for the Duetts Brand. “While there are competitive products in the market made with lower fat protein ingredients, only pork sausage has the taste that everyone loves to barbeque. With Duetts we are able to retain that juicy, gourmet flavor while reducing the fat and sodium most consumers are conscious about these days.”

In addition to reduced fat and sodium, Duetts Sausage has no gluten, no MSG and is trans-fat free per serving. For Tops Markets, the opportunity to partner with Wardynski on the launch of the Duetts brand was an easy decision.

Beginning May 18, Tops shoppers will be able to purchase Duetts Pork & Potato Sausage ™ at their local Tops stores across upstate, New York, northern Pennsylvania and northern Vermont.
