“We're excited about the progress that's happening right now in the city and very much want to continue to be a part of Buffalo's resurgence,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ chairman, president and CEO, acknowledging that Tops is currently in an exploratory phase in considering potential sites for an additional downtown store.

“There are various factors in considering a downtown grocery store including adjacent retailers and residential population, store size and format, demand and location,” Curci said. At the right time, in the right location Tops would absolutely consider an additional downtown location that would best serve the city’s growing and diverse consumer base.”

Over the past year, Tops has deepened its investment in the Buffalo community with $5 million in major renovations completed at three Buffalo stores, thus enhancing customers’ shopping experience. Major upgrades were made to Tops’ Blackrock store located on Amherst Street, Tops’ South Buffalo location at 1460 South Park Ave., as well as the Tops located at 1770 Broadway Ave. Improvements at these stores led to the creation of more than 60 new jobs in the city of Buffalo.

Tops Markets has a long-standing history of serving the Buffalo community for more than 40 years. Seven Tops Markets stores are located in the city of Buffalo, two of which are owned and operated by Tops’ franchise partners. The sizes of these stores range from 16,782 to 84,497 square feet and at these locations alone, Tops employs approximately 1,000 associates and serves tens of thousands of customers daily. During 2014, Tops stores in the City of Buffalo also gave back significantly to local charitable and non-profit organizations.
