Williamsville, N.Y. – Now that we have turned the calendar to September and are in the back to school mode, our mindset has shifted to buying school supplies, attending school orientations, and packing school lunches. At Tops Friendly Markets we have everything you need as you pack school safe, nut–free treats for your children to take for their school snack, to share for their birthday celebrations, or simply to enjoy during their lunch.

“Providing our customers with a variety of nut and dairy free snack items to choose from for their children is something we take pride in,” said Karri Zwirlein, director for bakery for Tops Friendly Markets. “From Lofthouse Cookies, which are made in a peanut and tree-nut free facility, to Freed’s Celebration Cupcakes, that are made in a peanut free facility, we provide parents with choices when it comes to providing their children with delicious, school safe treats.”

While most children with allergies attend school daily without incident, many schools are taking extra precautions by instituting “nut-free classrooms” to assist those struggling with allergies. Researchers estimate that up to 15 million Americans have food allergies, including 5.9 million children under age 18. That’s 1 in 13 children, or roughly two in every classroom*, so taking extra precautions like packing safe snacks in your child’s lunch box is key to assisting with these safe classroom measures.
