TOPS AWARDS AREA SCHOOLS OVER $850,000 AS PART OF TOPS IN EDUCATION
In-store rewards program offers shoppers the chance to earn money for their communities’ schools

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Today, Tops Friendly Markets announced that it has donated more than $850,000 to over 1,000 participating schools as part of its ‘Tops in Education’ program which has been in place since 2012. Last year alone the program raised over $152,700 for local schools. TOPS will be conducting check presentations with the five largest benefactors from the 2017-2018 program in the coming weeks at their respective schools. Below are the recipients:

Warsaw Elementary School - $6,095.67 Newfane Early Childhood Center - $1,811.18 Newfane Elementary School - $1,469.15 Holland Elementary PTO - $1,156.51 St. Amelia School - $1,141.38

“We have been very fortunate to have the support of our TOPS store managers,” said Kelly Ashcraft, president, Tiger Support Network for Warsaw Elementary School. “They want us, as well as the program, to succeed as much as we do. We try to set up a station in the front lobby of TOPS at least once a month. We explain the program, and once people realize that they don’t have to do anything but give you a few bits of information, they are more than happy to help.”

“We are so lucky to be a part of the Tops in Education program,” said Virginia Bower, Special Education Teacher for Newfane Elementary School. “We depend on this funding to help us provide enriching programs like hands on field trips and school assemblies that we otherwise would not be able to afford if it weren’t for the support from TOPS.” -more- New in 2018, households that were previously registered for the program during the 2017-2018 school year will not be required to re-register and will automatically be rolled over into the new school year. TOPS has also expanded its product list to include Simply Done and Culinary Tours giving participants in the program even greater opportunities to earn money for their schools. Most importantly, don’t forget about Double Give Back Days starting September 1 – 30, 2018!
