WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Irish eyes will be smiling in anticipation for the 42nd Annual Tops Rochester St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In honor of this annual festivity the parade committee will host a press conference to kick off the celebration. Taking place on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at City Hall (30 Church St., Rochester, NY) at 2:00 pm, the theme of Trinity and the Shamrock will officially be unveiled as this year’s parade theme and we’ll also welcome nine honorees. This year’s honorees include: • Grand Marshall – The Rochester Police Department who are celebrating their 200th anniversary • Community Organization of the Year – Daystar Kids • Citizen of the Year – Mark Dowdell • Community Leader of the Year – Dermont Loughran • Business Leader of the Year – Salvatore "Soccer Sam" Fantauzzo. • Honorary Marshal – Eamon O’Cuiv • In Memoriam Honorees – Muriel “Mert” Davenport and Jack Nolan • Ambassador to Waterford - Jessica Opett

The parade itself will take place Saturday, March 16 at 12:30 pm. Made up of over 130 entries, 4,000 marchers, 15 bands from all over New York State and Canada, and seven dance schools marching, this parade is a spectacle not to be missed. Every year over 100,000 spectators clamor to take in the sights and sounds of this annual tradition which was started by the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. The event steps off at the corner of East Ave. at Alexander Street, winding its way to Main Street and ends at Main and Fitzhugh.
